Guide Dogs

Guide dogs are by definition dogs trained to assist human beings in some activities like leading the blind or people who are impaired visually so that they may not hit against obstacles. Even though dogs can be taken through training to navigate different obstacles, they are not always perfect. They are somewhat color blind and are not in a position to interpret street signs at times. The directing is usually done by the guide dog’s human half team. This is usually done based on the skills gotten through past raining in mobility. The dog handler could be compared to the navigator of an aircraft who should know how to move from one point to another. In this case, the dog becomes the pilot who guarantees safe arrival.

The use of guide dogs

This has also attracted discrimination charges against such people. However, there has been a compromise reached through the Sharia council in some places like the United Kingdom on dogs used for guide duties.

Guide dogs do more than just helping human life. Studies have shown that dogs offer what is known as therapy to its own. They provide positive effects socially, physiologically and psychologically. Particularly, guide dogs come with various benefits and they help the user in many different ways. Most importantly, the blind person becomes more confident while going round and about and are comforted by the fact that they finally end up getting a constant ally.
