The Best Way To Write An Effective Introduction For An Essay

You don’t have to love to write, you don’t even have to like it. But you have to learn how to do it because your grades depend on this. Every part of the essay, no matter how big or small it is, is important for your professor. Neglecting a small detail can compromise the entire project and make you seem unprofessional. One of the most important elements of your composition is the introduction; if your professor likes it, he will be less severe when he will read the rest of the text. You don’t know what is the best way to start? Then follow these tips:

  • Write the introduction after you wrote the rest of the composition. Yes, you’ve heard right. In this way you can make sure that there is no wrong information in the beginning and that the first lines are relevant for the rest of the text. For example, you can make an assumption in the first lines but forget to prove it or discuss it in the body of the text. It will be confusing for the readers.

  • Don’t make it too long. You may be excited about this subject and wish to write as much as possible. However, if you write an introduction longer than two paragraphs your professor will not be very happy. Try to keep it short and simple; you have plenty of time to express your ideas and opinions later.

  • Present the topic clearly. When someone reads your composition they need to know what is the topic from the very first lines. If this does not happen, no one will be interested to complete reading. You can mention the general subject and why you chose it; any research method that you are planning to use should also be mentioned. In exceptional cases, you can even mention the name of the course you are writing for.

  • Make it engaging. It needs to convince anyone that your composition is worth reading. You should not reveal everything from the very beginning; keep some mystery. You can say that you interviewed a famous writer for this assignment, but not mention the name. Everyone will be curious to know who this famous writer is, so they will continue reading. Also, you can say that you will explore a controversial subject in your text.
